You basically just need to use the admin tools to partition and format the drive.

In XP, Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools,
Computer Management, Disk Management.

The drive should show up as unformatted there. Just partition and format it using that.

Hi Rod
here we go again.
The problem is that it's not seen there. My 80 gb uata is present
with it'spartitions but nothing from the serial ata.As I said, the raid
controller sees it and the jumper on the mobo is "on"but nothing
more..

Well as I said the raid controller work and it does recognize the serial
ata disk but it's not a raid envirement i'm trying to set up as that takes
two disks.I just want to use the serial atawith a serial ata harddrive.I
can't see what drivers would change with a device that's alllready working.

It may well make a difference to what XP can see drive wise.

Hi Rod
This problem is gone as well.I flashed the bios and suddenly my os
recognized the new drive .I better go to sleep now as it's getting very late
or rather early.
