I tried to install a psc1200 printer to my win98se pentium computer,
but got only 2 icons in the HP Director and no icon in the printers
map.
This appears to be a known problem, see hp documents c00018090 and
bpu01843. I reïnstalled the printer software several times,
scrupulously following all the instructions in the mentioned
documents, and instructions from a helpdesk. With no usefull result:
the software appears to be installed correctly, the printer is found
by the computer, the proper usb-devices appear to be installed, but
not the icons!
Is there anybody in this group who recognizes this problem and can
offer a solution?
Thanks,
Jos Jansen

IIRC, if the file exists, an icon can be attached. Look for
TweakUI in Control Panel.

You could also try googling on Windows 2000 Icon Repair --
that may get you a 3rd party utility that will do this.

Good luck.
