hey,

i originally set the C: drive for 2GB Fat32 ( the dummy
that i am ) thinking that it would be large enough for
WindowsXP, and drive f: for the rest ( 58 GB ) and i
constantly get drive c: is critically low errors.

d: and e: are CDs

i am seeking a solution that will allow me to not have to
reinstall.

can i move the "documents and settings" folder to the f:
drive? it's almost 200 MB. that should allow me to limp
along much better than i have been. today i caught the
c: drive @ 6 MB of free space. <ouch!!>

thanks for your support ppl,
bobby

Probably the best thing for you to do is purchase a third party partitioning
utility like Partition Magic from PowerQuest. If you decide to do this, be
sure to backup your data and perform a custom installation of PM on your F:
drive. You can then resize C: to any proportion you like without taking a
chance on fouling up your system configuration on C. I also suggest creating
at least two new partitions out of the remaining space once you've resized
C, uninstalling what programs you have at present on C and re-installing
them on one of the newly created partitions. You could then use the last
partition for data storage and such. This way, should you ever have to
repair/reinstall XP, your programs and data will remain intact.
All this sounds like a cumbersome process, but it not difficult at all. The
PM wizards make the whole process easy to deal with. You're not looking to
spend any money here but, it would be money well spent.

I'd agree that you'd need a third party partitioning program to 'resize' c:
.... an alternative to Partition Magic might also be BootItNG available at
http://www.bootitng.com/bootitng.html

The documentation is a little 'geeky' but it's rock solid and there's a free
30 day full featured trial ... see the bottom of the above page.

Was this a clean install? If it was, backup your data created since you
installed and start over. Make the partition desiginated for XP at least 8
and preferrably 10 Gig's.
If you want to invest in some third party software, check out the links
