2gig ram
1x 200 gig stata 2 hdd ( system )
1x 320 gig sata 2 hdd ( storage )
2x nvida 6600 gt sli config
rating 4.0
my q is when i went to install vista on the 200 sata hdd it would not let
me install while both hdd where conected , so disconnected the 320 hdd and
installed the os on the 200 hdd , now when the system is up and running
updates done i connected the second stata drive and went into disk man to see
if the drive was there adjusted setting so computer will see the drive .
vista was saying it was unallocted space and i had to reformat to use drive
and with what i had on the drive i know i was going to lose the data on it (
not happy jan ) lucky i backed it all but will this if anyones knows be the
deal every time one dose a reformat with vista. i thought with the updated
windows os it would be able to see a old drive which was already formatted to
ntfs and used for a period of time with xp and would not lose all the
data on it .. so has any ideas why it done this and if it will do it
everytime i reformat ??

Did you reboot after reconnecting the 2nd drive? The joke about Gates,
Einstein and Freud should be required reading for Windows users.......

of course i did reboot ,,, i shut down pc to connect the second drive still
dosent answer why it would not install os into a drive when both are
connected and why it would not see the dive and all that was in its volume
the problem with freud he had a hang up with sex

I suspect it's the mobo drivers, specifically the mass storage controllers.
These are not recognized or installed by Vista, you need to do that from
device manager and point the updater to the folder with the mass storage
controller driver.
The joke is about when both logic and psychology fail "get off the train
and back on it again, maybe it will start".
