Anybody ever done it? Is it possible? (I'm talking Server
here, not workstation. And no, not for a production box.)

TIA.

Thanks, Dave. I already knew the MS stated requirements
for 2000, but that doesn't really answer my question. I
was wondering if anyone had actually tried installing on
a Celeron box & lived to tell the tale.

(I need another test system at home and I don't want to
spend any more money than I have to.)

Currently running w2k sp2 celeron 1ghz overclocked to 1.12ghz w/640mb pc100
ram...very stable, very strong.....as long as your BIOS is current, should
be ok....

I have run 2Kserver on a Celeron 900Mhz (oc'd to 1.26Ghz), with between 512
and 1G of PC 133 SDRAM, blah blah blah....

Yes. You can do it. And as long as it isnt a mission critical, full time
production server, why the hell not do it ? Its fast enough and pretty
cheap, so you win in the end.

You don't say what Celeron - they go up to 2.8GHz so you most
certainly can install Windows 2000 Server on a Celeron system!

It depends more on what you're going to do with it and how much
physical memory is installed. I've come across perfectly usable
Windows 2000 Server and, more recently, Windows 2003 installations
running on PII-266 and Celeron-333 processor with plenty of RAM.
