I have a laptop with Window 98SE on it and would like to upgrade to Windows
XP Pro. The laptop does not have a CD drive. I have the laptop networked
to my desktop via a pass-through cable. I've always installed software via
the CD drive on my desktop via the network.
So, what I'm hoping I can do is either copy the Windows XP setup files to
the laptop via the network and run them from either DOS or 98SE. Or, run
Window XP setup from the networked CD on my desktop.
As I'm "new" to XP Pro I don't have a clue what to expect. I'm hoping...
this isn't a CD required install. It appears by search the Internet and
Usenet that not many people do what I'm trying to do.
I'm also going to install Windows XP Pro on my desktop and home PC, (buying
3 licenses). I'm going to guess the other two PC's with CD's will go fairly
routine.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
TIA
