Install mistake ??

I was running late last night when I began the install of RC1, I know, a
mistake... Anyway, I installed to my D: Drive which is a physical drive,
yet I wanted to install it to my D: Drive, and carry over XP settings and
have the ability to run the programs on my C: Drive, like MS office etc...
Is that possible?

How did you do that?
RC1 isn't available yet to the best of my knowledge.
 
Drive lettering descriptions are useless, since they CAN vary depending on
what system you are booting from. As to whether they will work across
systems, some do, some don't as with any dual (or more) boot installation.
RC1 :-( What settings did you want to carry over. If drive lettering, as
discussed here in many posts, you need to install from the XP desktop,
otherwise Vista will install itself as C within itself.
 
Are you Upgrading or are you looking for something like a Files and Settings
Transfer Wizard (called Windows Easy Transfer in Vista) ??

I was away from the PC this weekend or would of responded sooner. I meant
the Beta version, I guess I just had RC on my mind as I had a RC copy of XP
those many years ago.

I guess my question was a little vauge, what I was wondering was whether or
not Vista or not could be installed as if it was replacing ("upgrading") XP,
so I could still run apps without having to re-install them. I know the
answer is no, but thought that maybe, just maybe, it would be possible.

I installed to the D: drive and am able to run it with minimal problems but
am having to go through and install drivers for things I really expected
Vista to find, such as a driver for my Linksys LNE100TX NIC, and I also
expected that Vista could of installed basic drivers for my SB Audigy.
