install log inaccessible

I'm trying to uninstall a program and when I use either
the add/remove utility in Control panel or the uninstall
command of the program itself, I get the message that the
install.log can't be opened. This has been going on for
more than a year. The only way to get around it is to
reinstall the OS and start all over. Something seems to be
corrupting the process and I know I don't have a virus. I
have been checking components memory etc with diagnostic
utilities I've downloaded from the web and everything says
the all my components are fine. Any suggestions?

judgement,---Start---run---type in regedit---enter---
registry will appear---click edit---find---type in the
program name (I hope it's just junk like P2P or kazaa or
something like that).---click find---should take you
right to the folder that you want---right click on the
open folder on the left bank---click deleate---It will be
gone forever,ain't no coming back---If it's still
there,repeat process,find next---(Be DAMN SURE you know
what your doing before you do it in here or you'll be
screwed).MAKE SURE YOUR SYSTEM RESTORE IS ON,B-4 you
start AND create a restore point, so if you F-UP,you can
restore to it and get it back...........good luck,wish
you'ld list the program your trying to uninstall.....I've
had to do a lot for people(like windows snowflake
screensaver,Kazaa,P2P,IEFEATS,Morphous,things like
that).Please post back your results,I'm
