Installation progresses fine until we get to "Please wait whil windows checks
your system performance" The machine seems to hang there and require reboot.
After which Vista moves really slowly and takes forever to complete any task.
Clean reinstall twice....Any ideas?????
PIV D 3.2

WD 74GB Raptor Drive
ASRock 775 vsta mobo

I've got a similar problem. It attempts to boot into windows for the first
time, and stalls. No activity what so ever for the 10 minutes I waited, while
the display is in standby mode. I am trying to install on a new ASUS P5W DH
system with C2D 6400 processor and an ATI x1600 Pro Video card. I've tried
both the 32 & the 64 bit versions with the same result.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, I'm using an MSI based x1300 ati card, tried reference driver from ATI,
with no luck, sure acts like a hardware problem.....Maybe video card is not
comaptable...

What video card are you using?

Figured it out, it was the video card, something with the drivers, swapped in
an old radeon 7500 AGP and the system started up and worked
perfectly...........
Good luck....
