Thank you in advance for the help.

I am admin for a large church. I have volume licensing
installation disks for Office XP and am planning the
deployment. These include Office, Media Content, Step by
Step and the troublesome SP2 disk. This software came
from our Soulutions provider and is indeed authentic.

The problem comes when trying to apply service packs from
the included SP1 and SP2 media. This update disk WILL
NOT install. It gives the same "wrong version expected
error" message that we have all seen before.

Question is: Why does the included MS Office service pack
disk not install yet the office update downloaded version
does? I have multiple rollouts to do and can't afford the
time to have each system go online to obtain the updates.
Thanks again. Todd

You might try downloading the admin version of the SPs from Microsoft's web site and following the instructions for applying it to your installation point.
