Install BCM07 WITHOUT SQL Lite at desktop?

Is it possible to install BCM without it automatically installing SQL Lite on
the desktop? Where are using a centralized SQL Server to store the info to
which the desktops will connect.

It just seems that the SQL Lite consumes a huge amount of resources on the
desktop and dramtically decreases the performance of the desktop.

Do you need SQL Lite in order for the program to work in 'offline' mode?
(As in on a laptop).

You need Sql Express to work in offline mode.

If you are not using offline, and you using a database hosted on
another machine, then you can uninstall Sql Express from the client,
and get the resources back.

First, it is SQL Server Express edition which comes with BCM 2007.
Yes, Offline also uses SQL Server. If you already have SQL Server, BCM will
create its instance in the SQL Server.

Hummm..
But, I my company we have to install in more or less 50 workstation. How
install without installing SQL. Because, after install in 50 workstation, we
have to uninstall only the SQL on the 50 workstation??? It's make no sense!
And if we have to install in 1000 workstation?

The setup has some parameters to not install the SQL?

BCM is primarily aimed at small businesses that want to use BCM on one
to five PCs, so a primary goal is make BCM easy to install; i.e., a
user simply has to run BCM Setup and all the necessary components get
installed, without the user running Setup having to know what an Sql
database is.

If enough IT departments are installing BCM clients on fifty machines,
then it makes sense that BCM Setup should allow them to configure
their setup, and not have install and uninstall Sql on all fifty
clients. You should recommend that change in the next version of BCM
directly to Microsoft.
 
We've heard this request before. As Luther said, we're optimized for
the 5 PC, no "server" market. If you removed SQL from the clients, or
did not use Offline, when the boss's computer hosting the BCM DB is
switched off or goes home, no-one would be able to access their BCM
data. Much safer - for our target market - to leave SQL and allow
Offline.
