certificate. I dont have the number needed to re-install

number to complete the install.

No. The disk and the number are tied together. Call Microsoft and explain
your problem. You may be able to get the number from them if you registered
your copy of XP on the initial installation when you first started your
machine. Meanwhile, find that number! Look on the computer case itself.
There may be a sticker with the number on it. That is required by Microsoft
for all computer manufacturers.

If you are kidding us and this is a pirate copy youve
been done.
an OEM copy will only install onto the original computer.
A retail copy must be activated every 120 days and only
one copy is allowed to be activated at anyone time, you
cant even install the same copy twice into the same
computer without problems unless you buy two licences.

No, that's true of *some* OEM copies, but far from all. The terms
of the EULA prevent OEM copies from being moved to another
computer, but if you have a generic OEM copy, it certainly *will*
install onto any computer.

Completely false. Once activated, it *never* needs to re
activated, unless the hardware changes substantially.

Completely false. You can reinstall and reactivate as many times
as you want to without problems.

IS Windows XP still installed? You can find the Product key with
any of these:
