INSTALATION ERROR

I AM TRYING TO INSTALL GEARHEAD GARAGE ON MY COMPUTER THE
GAME WON'T INSTALL AND I GET THIS ERROR...

Error 1406: Could not write value folder to key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNE\SOFTWARE\INSTALLSHIELD\DRIVER\7\INTEL32.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or
contact your support personnel.

HOW DO I SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. MY COMPUTER SHOULD BE ABLE TO
RUN THIS GAME WITH NO PROBLEM.

PLEASE BE DETAILED WITH THE SOLUTION.....

starting with which version of Windows XP you're using. Thanks.

Are you trying to install the game under a limited access (not an
administrator) account? The game probably will not install unless
you install it from an administrator account...

Have you tried running the installer program in compatibility mode?

Also, I know that there is a patch that *must* be installed for
GearHead Garage to function properly under Windows XP.
(The game was not originally written for XP)

You can download the patch(es) from:

http://www.gearheadgarage.com/updates.htm

You need to follow the instructions that they provide to install the
patches.

game using the windows 98 compatible setting the insaller
runs and says the game has installed but in the program
files the headgames folder is not there,and when I put the
disc in and the instalation screen comes up the
instalation button is not active.I also have changed the
administrators privilage to clasic.
