User is working w/ Bar Chart/Graph in presentation, & has data label associated w/ each bar. He edits data label alignment as Inside Base (data figure should be INSIDE of bar), & it saves correctly. When we re-open the graph, it's correct; when we click the graph & click the data label, it seems to "disappear." In actuality, the label moves OUTSIDE of the bar, although you cannot see it. This should not happen; label should remain INSIDE the bar

We are saving the file as "PowerPoint 97-2000 & 95 Presentation (*.ppt)" because there are 97 & 2000 users for this app. Saving file as "Presentation (*.ppt)" is not an option, as formatting issues arise

Apologies if this message is duplicated. ANY assistance is MUCH APPRECIATED! Thank you!

PowerPoint 97, 2000, 2002, and 2003 all use the same file format, so there
is not need to save as anything but Presentation(*.PPT). What issues
arise?

What setting is the user using to set the Data Label as "Inside Base"?

Thanks Sonia. User assures me that they've had issues in the past w/ other users--on different ver's of PowerPt--opening shared .PPT file. I can't be any more specific than that, but she assures me that "Presentation (*.PPT)" is not an option

Not sure what you mean by "what setting"...but I know that they're assigning numeric data figures for each bar w/in several graphs in the file. Looking @ the setting for each data figure, I'm fairly certain that under the Format Data Labels dialog box
-- Number tab: set to "General
-- Alignment tab: Horizontal & Vertical = not sure, but I think they're "Center"; Label Position = "Inside Base

When you save, exit, & reopen file; then click graph to edit...sometimes Inside Base stays, but most times it does not & the data label "disappears" from the bar, & gets set adjacent to (outside) the actual bar

I hope this makes sense. I rarely use PowerPt...the person setting this up walked me thru it, & showed me exactly what was going on. I do believe...unless I'm missing something...that it does appear to be an issue. Again, any HELP will go a long way, Sonia! Thanks! Heading home for the weekend--enjoy yours! Will hopefully see a reply/resolution next week! Feel free to email: (e-mail address removed)
