Inserting sound file - do not want an" absolute" address for the file

Hello,

I am putting together a presentation of bird calls.

My directory levels are:
C\:birds
C:\birds\currawong
this holds currawong.mp3 file
C:\birds\powerpoint
lyrebird.ppt

When I insert sounds - using C:\birds\currawong\currawong.mp3 the slide
works perfectly.

But if I want to take the entire directory of birds to run on a USB key the
sound files, of course, do not work.

Is there a way to change where PP is looking for a sound file?

What is the recommendation for storing my sound files for a presentation ie
should I have currawong.mp3 stored in the powerpoint directory?

If you put the MP3 file in the same folder with the PPT file, they should
play. The directory levels are what cause the issue -- PPT looks in its same
folder when trying to find the linked files.

You could run Package for CD to resolve the links. Choose copy to folder,
and you can opt not to include the PPT Viewer, no problem. The resulting
folder will have your presentation and the linked MP3s all in there. Burn
that to the CD.

Or choose to include the Viewer if you want and then burn the *contents* of
that folder to the CD (all the files would be "loose" on the CD), and then
it will autorun when you insert it into the drive.
