Inserting pictures into Word Document

When trying to insert a picture from file into a word
processing document the programme clears and goes back to
desktop,but if I insert from clip-art it works
perfectly.Anyone got any ideas?

My hunch would that the picture file is either corrupted, or it's a
format that Word can't handle ... View the file a browswer to check
it's not corrupted. If viewable, then right mouse click on the picture
to copy to clipboard, this paste into Word.

.Tried this but as soon as I click on insert picture it still goes back to desktop

Have you tried cut & paste? Open the picture file in a picture viewer, then
highlight the actual photo and hit Ctrl-C. Then in your Word document press
Ctrl-V. I do that all the time. Should work.
