Hi. I posted this in the Forms group yesterday, but have
had no response, so I'm trying it here. I desperately need
help getting a jpg image to display on my form.

In my database I have a Products table and an associated
Products form. Both table and form have a Picture field.
Field is set as an OLE Object. On the form, I right click
on the Picture field, choose Insert Object, Create from
File, browse to the folder that contains the picture,
click on the file I want, click OK, leave the Link and
Display As Icon boxes unchecked, click OK. However, the
picture does not display on the form. Instead I get a
little icon-like thing and underneath the name of the
file; i.e., 003PA.jpg.

FWIW, I created the DB on my old computer and filled out
the first two Products records using the Products form.
Both pictures displayed fine when I inserted them via the
above procedure. Then I had a hard drive crash, but not
before getting all my "mission critical" files, including
this DB and the pictures folder, saved to CD. The old
computer was running Windows NT. My new computer is
running Windows 2000 Professional. When I opened this DB
on my new computer, the two pictures in the first two
records still display just fine on the form, but when I
try to insert a pictures into record #3, I get what I
described above.

Also FWIW, I notice on the Products table that the Picture
field for the first two records says MSPhotoEd.3, while
the Picture field for the third record says Package.
Huh??? I didn't "set" any of this.

I've looked all over Help, etc., but can't find anything
that tells me what I'm doing wrong and/or what to do about
it, so I'm asking here. Please help. This is driving me
crazy!

Thank you.

Stephen, I'm sure I'm showing my woeful ignorance here,
but MS Photo Editor isn't on the list. (If it
was "registered" to handle JPG or any other graphic files
on my old computer, I didn't do that myself, so it must
have been some kind of an automatic thing that doesn't
seem to be available on my new computer.) I have no idea
which programs on the list can act as OLE servers. I've
tried several, to no avail.

Something else I've discovered. As a test, I chose to
create a new Access DB using the wizard to create a
Contact Management DB. When I got to the dialog box where
you can choose to include a picture on all reports, I did
so and browsed to Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\Bitmaps. Any file I clicked on (they're all
gifs), that should show a preview of the picture, didn't
do so. Instead it said "no document properties are
available for this file." On going to the file's
properties, again you're supposed to choose an "opens
with" program from the list. Again MS PhotoEditor is not
on that list. Choosing MS Paint from the list did not
result in a picture preview, but still the same message.
Selecting "other" and browsing to one of my graphics
programs didn't work, either. No preview; same message.

So I'm totally lost, don't know what to try next, or where
to go to try it. More help, please.
