Inserting Multiple Linked Files

I am creating several versions of a document. I tried to
insert each chapter as a link to the source file. I was
able to do that.

However, when I openned the document and it updated, it
looked at the first file I inserted as the total link and
removed the others.

For clarity. I created document "Test". I then inserted as
a link documents A, B, and C. I saved "Test". I made some
updates to A. I openned "Test" and found that A had been
updated but B and C were gone.

Is there something I am missing or is it not possible to
do what I am attempting?

Please email response to (e-mail address removed).

Thank you.

Suzanne,

I have been searching through Google and have yet to find
an answer (on page 23 so far). I only asked that a reply
be emailed as I thought it might be easier.

Thanks,

Dennis

Suzanne,

Have read as many posts to this news group as I coluld
find regarding my problem. The answer appears to be to not
link documents. I have used the Insert | File | Link
command on each of the files I inserted but the files all
seem to be "combined" into one long file that updates
based on the first file inserted.

But thanks for your help. I am just going to create each
of my manuals the old fashioned way -- just insert them as
files. I can always re-create each of them if I have an
update.

Dennis
