Inserting MP3 files

Martha

I often drop music behind a series of images in Powerpoint
creating a 'video' effect. Usually the sound is run
directly from a CD, however, I've been experimenting with
MP3 files converted from CDs through Music Match. While
PPT recognizes the file format while inserting, it will
not play. There are some MP3 files that I've picked up
from other sources which work.

Any tips for either working in Music Match or suggestions
for other (free?) software for compatible MP3 conversions.

Thanks!

Marth,

All MP3 files are NOT created equally. <g> What codec does Music Match use
and is it user selectable?

Austin,

I believe the codec is 128Kbps MP3 encoding, 96Kbps MP3Pro
encoding developed by Thomson which owns Musicmatch.
Earlier codecs included Fraunhoffer "FastEnc".

Hope this sheds some light on the problem.

Thanks for responding.

Yes that helps, use the Fraunhoffer codec and all should be well.
