With windows XP:
I would like to insert images into any letters I write
on my wordpad, but there are no images to choose from
on my files.
How do I obtain a loadful of images for this?
What are they called technically?
I searched the web under FREE, and the results are
overwhelming--most graphics are gif (moving images).
I just want decorative images to inhance my lettrs.
What are these images called?

Wordpad will only handle text, u cannot put pictures in
it. for that u will need to purchase something such as
Microsoft Word.

Hi Tony,

There are a lot of image formats, most common ones are .gif, .jpg, .bmp,
..wmf, and .pcx. Unfortunately, none of these are supported in wordpad, you
would need a more capable word processor. What you might look for to insert
images into documents is clipart, but again, you need a higher level word
processor.

If you want a full featured wordprocessor that will enable you to insert
pictures and do all that MS Word can do then you might want to d/l Open
Office. It is freeware but is a huge 60 MB d/l so a fast connection is
needed http://www.openoffice.org/

Open Office has an app called Writer. This is the wordprocessor. It also has
Calc which is similar to Excel and Impress which is similar to PowerPoint.
If you choose to d/l and install you may wish to adjust the preferences so
that it defaults to opening and saving files as Microsoft documents as shown
here http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/images/writer2.jpg

Tony,
Why are you using Wordpad for E-mail? I really did not know you could!
Anyway, Wordpad is a basic text program. No Imaiges. From what I understand
you desire, I recommend "IcrediMail" which would provide what it seems you
want. They have a free version and a far more extensive version which they
sell. Go here and look at the

Wordpad can support images - embedded or linked. Be sure to save the
file in a format that also supports images (.RTF or .DOC, for example).
If you save as Text, you'll lose the images.

Not sure what kind of images you are looking for or what kind of
enhancements you desire. Background images won't work in Wordpad but
perhaps a letterhead? If that's what you had in mind search for
"letterhead" or "banner" images.

Because Wordpad is a simple word processor, you can drag/drop or
copy/paste images to its window. There is no clip art gallery to use - a
common tool in word processors that support more features.

Gene perhaps he types letters and snail mails or hand delivers, as they used
to in the olden days before e-mail ;-)
