Hi,

I am trying to insert an email into another email. Both emails have been sent to me. When I go under insert the only thing that comes up is object. Under edit the edit message is not there. How do I do this. The reason why I want to do this, is that I want to keep everything in one email, but put the other one in as an envelope.
Thanks

Leslie

Are you using Word as your e-mail editor, or are you just using the regular
Outlook editor?

Hmm...you might try resetting the toolbar and see if that helps add the
"Item" command back to the Insert menu. Right-click the menu bar, select
Customize, select the Toolbars tab, select the Menu Bar in the list, and
click Reset.

What version of Outlook are you using, and if 98 or 2000, what mail support
mode? If you're not sure, look at the second line of Help | About Microsoft
Outlook -- it should say "Internet Mail Only" or "Corporate/Workgroup".
(Outlook 97, 2002, and 2003 don't have separate modes.)

Hmm. I don't have a copy of Outlook 2000 installed here to test with. Try
this: Close Outlook. Search for a file on your hard drive called
outcmd.dat. It's the file that holds toolbar customizations and it can
become corrupted. (If you use Windows 2000 or XP, make sure you search in
hidden and system folders when looking for the outcmd.dat file.) Once you
find it, rename it to outcmd.old. When you restart Outlook, the default
toolbars will be recreated. Does the "Item" command appear on the Insert
menu in a new mail message now?

Leslie, I'm getting a bit confused. You are not quoting any of our previous
conversation in your replies, and I'm not sure what you did to get the
"Item" command in the Insert menu if you didn't do anything to the
outcmd.dat file (since you said you couldn't find it). What exactly did you
do before the Item command appeared? (If you searched in hidden and system
folders as well as regular folders and didn't find the outcmd.dat file, it's
possible you don't have one -- the file is only created when you make a
change to a toolbar or menu.)

There is no outcmd.dat file anywhere, I looked in every single file
and folder there was.

It's there. You have to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in Windows
Explorer.

Hi there

Sorry I did not realize that I should be including the orignal messages, I will start now. I found the file and renamed it to outcmd.old. Nothing change
