I am trying to find a way to insert a database into frontpage. I need to have
a way to share copies of documents with other people. I initially had an
excel spreadsheet formatted on a page with hyperlinks, however, the data is
extremely large now and I need to find a way to do this. Can anyone offer any
suggestions?

In what format is the database? How many tables does it contain?

Look at use the FP database components to display the content of the Access database on your site.
You must be hosted on a Window IIS web server with access to ASP and the ability to use Access
databases.
