does anyone know how to do this (short of using VBA)? my boss asked if
I knew how to insert a slide within a slide, sort of a snapshot of a
previous slide within the same presentation. I know how to hyperlink,
how to insert an object, and of course, inserting a slide in a
presentation, but I had never heard of inserting or embedding a slide
or the image of a slide within another one. thanks in advance...

One way would be..

Save as > in save as type scroll down to jpeg or png
Choose current slide only
Insert >picure from file navigate to saved slide pic
Scale to suit

John's suggestion is a good one. Another approach:

Switch to slide sorter view
Rightclick the slide you want a miniature of and choose Copy
Switch to normal view, go to the slide where you want the miniature to appear
and make sure you click on the slide itself (not the slide in the miniatures
pane on the left) and choose Edit, Paste Special, as PPT Slide Object.

You can now doubleclick to edit the miniature if it becomes necessary.

If there's no need to edit the things, I'd definitely go with John's suggestion
instead. Lighter weight, simpler.

Steve and John, I really appreciate your simple, elegant solutions to
this problem, both of which worked like a charm. Thanks again to you
both!
