Hi all-

I have PPT XP and on specific slides I would like to
insert a countdown graphic (10 or 15 sec). I would like
it to look like the countdowns at the beginning of a
movie.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Jeff

Just create 10 - 15 background filled text boxes with the respective number
in the text box and have the Custom Animation set to automatically animate
each second. The only trick is to have each text box slightly next to each
one so you can set the correct animation sequence. Once done, you can move
them directly on top of each other.

Holler back if it doesn't make sense. I'd be glad to send a sample.

My presentation has ~80 slides with the countdown needing
to be on about 35 of them. I was hoping to find a
simpler way of doing it besides what you mentioned
(although I appreciate your suggestion).

any other suggestions?

You may still wish to try to use Mr. Foley's suggestion.
This creates one slide. Then in the Slide Sorter view,
highlight the "countdown" slide and hold down CTRL+D to
duplicate that slide as many times as you wish. Simply
drag and drop them into the correct spots.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the ability to display a dynamically updating
timer, date and/or time during slide show. Although there are various
add-in's and workarounds available
(http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00081.htm), many of them will not work
if you are using the PowerPoint Viewer to display your slide show.

If it is important to you (or anyone else reading this message) that
PowerPoint provide an out-of-the-box capability for easily displaying
current (dynamically updating) time and/or date in various formats
(including such things as a countdown timer, analog clock, etc.) during
slide show (without having to resort to VBA or add-ins, so that the
solution will also work in the Viewer), please send your feedback (in YOUR
OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)

Hi Jeff,

Clip Art Office Online has an animated gif that does the movie style
countdown. Click on Insert, Clip Art and search on countdown. You can place
it on a master slide and use that slide for the 35 that need the countdown
timer.

Glenna
