I can't remember what update this occured, but when someone sends me an
e-mail with an inserted picture or emoticon, I only receive a box with a red
x in it. If I go to reply or forward the message I can see the pic, but not
in the reading pane or if I physically open the e-mail.

Does anyone know how to correct this?

Sorry, I assumed that since this was an Outlook community it would be
obvious. Sorry about that. Yes this is on Outlook 2003 with all service
packs and updates through today! Thanks in advance for your help!

Dan, thanks for the reply. The tools>options>security was not the issue but
the link provided had the majority of the answer. However, the instructions
were:

1. Locate the Outlook Temporary Items folder by opening the Registry and
locating
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11\Outlook\Security\OutlookSecureTempFolder

2. Navigate to the value of this Key. It should be something like:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3D\ where OLK3D is
some randomly generated string that always starts with OLK

3. Quit Outlook

4. Delete the contents of the folder

5. Launch Outlook

But there is one thing missing in regards to deleting the contents of the
folder, you need to navigate to the folder by way of a command prompt, change
the attributes on all files from read only by the command "attrib *.* -r" and
then delete the files still at a command prompt with the command "del *.*"

Once that is complete and you re-open Outlook, your attachements will be
"restored" and the mysterious red "x" problem will be gone. All inbedded
pictures/graphics in received e-mails will be visible within the reading pane!

Thanks again for the help!
