I recently upgraded from an older laptop and transfered
the ppt presentation to the new one. I have relinked the
movie clips but those (it seems) over 10 MB won't play in
powerpoint but they play fine in the new computer media
player. Any thoughts?

See if the movie clips play in the MCI media player that fires up if you
go to Start/Run and type mplay32.exe

I tried but the mplay32.exe won't even "see" the files
even when all files is chosen. The MPEG files play on
either quicktime player or windows media player. Others
created the same way (Dazzle USB) seem fine....it just
seems that files over 10 KB won't play they show an OK
static picture in powerpoint but when I try to play them
they only display a white box. The origials were made and
viewed in powerpoint 2000 , Dazzle USB, Dell 8000 running
ME (800mHz) new is Dell 8500 running XP pro (2.4GHz). The
file will play in powerpoint if I insert an action button
and then have the quicktime window hyperlinked

Hm.

If mplay32.exe won't "see" the files, then I'm pretty sure we have a
codec problem here. That doesn't surprise me, as Dazzle uses a
proprietary codec which isn't known to work well with PPT.

However, since the smaller files are playing, it's a bit bizarre. I
wonder if Dazzle uses a different compression algorithm (codec) for
larger files than it does for small ones?

I'd probably open the files up in a video editing software package and
recompress them with something standard. There's a list at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm under
"codecs are a must -- find them here." But the whole thing is worth a
careful read, as it explains why, for one, I suggested trying
mplay32.exe in the first place. :-) You could also try downloading the
NIMO pack mentioned in that link. Never know, that just might do the
trick.

Austin, Adam, TAJ, anybody else got any ideas here?
