You don't. Scan to an image and insert that.

I'm glad that MS has finally dropped that option. I keep telling people to
scan in their images, edit them with a graphics program *and then* insert
them into Word or Publisher. A much better process, IMHO.

Are we going backwards or what. I guess MS will re introduce this feature in
the word 2010 version. I deal with photos all the time when using adobe. But
for the quick document insert, there is no quicker way then the inbuilt word
method. O dear microsoft cutting corners or wanting us to buy a additional
piece of software...

The question remains, how does one INSERT the image? Word 2007 beta Help
says to put the image into a New Collection. How, though, does one build a
New Collection. New>New Collection is NOT on the File Pull-Down-Menu.

I think it means to create a folder, call it anything your want.

When you select insert, picture, click Organize clips on the task pane. The
Organizer will come up. Right-click, My Collections, click New Collection, give
it a name. Select the folder, File, add clips, on my own, browse to the scanned
image.

That is stupid. I need fast document production, not a fussy tarting up by
anal-retentive perfectionists. This is an important facility which will force
me off Office 2007 altogether.

Fussy tarting up by anal-retentive perfectionists? Better that than being
known for doing a job half-assed.

Wow, Alan, JoAnn's just passing on info - she didn't write the software...
Remember the old saying "Don't shoot the messenger"? Besides, I doubt she
could care less whether anyone in particular ever again utters the name
"Microsoft", let alone upgrades to 2007 :-)

If you feel you *must* do it this way, on the Ribbon's Insert tab click Clip
Art. Then at the bottom of the Clip Art Task Pane click the Organize Clips
link, go to the File Menu of the Clip Organizer window, Add Clips to
Organizer>From Scanner or Camera. Probably still not as svelte as you might
prefer, but that's about all there is, I'm afraid.

I'm okay if people are less than happy with something but sometimes we need
to learn to do something in a different way. I fully undersstand getting
stuck in doing something one way but times are changing. I'll be dealing
with a whole boatload of changes this weekend. My new Vista system is due
tomorrow and I may or may not put Office 2003 on it. I may just force myself
to learn 2007. Sure, I'll grumble and mutter about having to change the way
I do things but I won't post diatribes about Microsoft in the newsgroups. It
would be like trying to teach a pig to sing.

I disagree with you.
If I have to scan a 100 page document, it is a royal pain to scan each one
into a jpg file and then insert each picture into word. It was much easier in
Word 2003 where you could directly scan the pages into Word!!!
Why has Microsoft made things so difficult with word 2007 and word 2010?
