Hi. I am sure this is just a little quirky thing, but I am clueless...

I use PowerPoint 2000. In the past when I go to insert new slide I used to
get a box where I could choose whether to insert a title page, blank page,
columns, etc. I must have done something somewhere because now, it just
inserts a bulleted page instead of asking. (how rude is that :)
Anyone know how to get it to behave? thanks
dee

Hi dee,
You probably checked the "Do not show this dialog again" checkbox in the
New Slide dialog. To change this back, open the Options dialog from the
Tools menu. On the View tab, check "New slide dialog".

Hmm...
I did what you suggested, but when I click tools, options, view, new slide
dialog, then hit OK I get a message that the path is invalid so it can not
make this change. I guess somehow, I lost, or changed the default. I can
screw up almost anything! Any clue as to where I tell it to look for the
default? I have Ppt 2000 and Windows Me. (Windows Why Me!)
thank you

Try running a Detect and Repair.

Although if you're not able to get to dialog boxes, that can sometimes
be a registry or permissions issue.

I did the detect and repair (what a handy little tip to remember!) but it is
still looking for my default PowerPoint on my desktop. any ideas where the
default should be with ppt 2000, Windows Me? If I can't find it, I could
make a new one, but still need to know where to store the default. If I
look for the templates from MS, they are in: c; program files MS Office,
Templates. But unless I don't know what to look for, I am not seeing a
default template?

thanks again

Ahhhh. I think I misunderstood your second post, Dee. I thought you
weren't seeing the dialog box at all...

Anyway, see if this helps at all:

You can also search for *.POT files. Wherever you find the bulk of those
is where your default POT needs to be as well.

You might be receiving this message because the default save location
present on the Save tab may be set to a non-exisitend folder path.
