How do I access shared folder from a computer running on
windows 2000 OS using one with Windows 98 OS? Or is it
possible? If yes,are there some configurations that needs
to be set-up for them to communicate? Just like sharing
network printers,It is alright even if computers have
different OS,they can still share it.It just needs some
further configuration.

Nothing special, there needs to be a account in Windows 2000 with the same
username and password as in Win 98 otherwise it i'll ask for ipc$ password.

Workgroup names must match. An account for this purpose must reside on the
Win2k machine and permissions for it must be granted at the Share. The
Win98 machine must use the same account. Do this by deleting all the *.pwl
files on the machine,...it will prompt for a login the next reboot,...give
it the same username & password as the one used on the Win2k box for the
"sharing purposes.

You have to be aware about shared folder name not to be more than 12 characters, or 8, i don't remember right now.

Windows 98 works on DOS and have this limitation, there is work around this, install windows 2000 network client for windows 98.
