We are looking for the right solution to solve the
following:

On first slide in a PowerPoint (2000) presentation the
user is asked to put in an access code. Later in the
presentation the access code input needs to be part of an
Url or e-mail.address

PP presentations are distributed on Autorun CD's by
various web site and e-mail owners that guide their guests
what access code to put in.

Sample: User is guided to put in as access code "
ViVa " .. then later in the same presentation the input
becomes part of the hyperlink http://www.viva.myweb.com
and in the mailto: command

Only limitations on input are max 25 charachters.
Solution will have to work with PP-viewer '97 or 2003

Your help will be greatly appreciated

Will the CD use the PowerPoint Viewer, or will it be structured assuming
that all users have PowerPoint installed on their system?

Thanks. The reason that I asked has to do with the Viewer. Neither the new
or the old Viewer supports VBA, macros, or ActiveX controls, and the new
Viewer doesn't support the Action Settings > Run Program function, so you
are very limited in solution possibilities.

One approach that I can think of is to link to a URL and request the access
code and branch to the correct URL from there. That takes the function out
of the presentation. I can't tell you how to do that, but I can tell you
that if the Viewer is in the picture, doing it from the presentation is
highly doubtful. At least I can't think of a way.

Maybe (hopefully) I'll be embarrassed when someone else comes along with an
obvious solution.

Thanks for your information regarding the abilities of
the viewers and your suggestion regarding the web solution.
As the viewers do allow url and mailto links would you
think it to be possible to let the autorun start with an
input entry in html or xml and then move on to the
presentation and let the presentation call the access code
input value ?
You have to excuse me ... my knowledge in these matters is
so limited !!
Thanks in advance for your continued support and
assistance.
