Hi everybody I have posted this question a couple of times
now with no response. I'm giving it another go with the
same question. Somebody, please respond.

"I notice that lately my deep scan is not scanning any reg
keys. I am using the latest definitions and I have
made sure drive c is ticked. Any input?"

Thank you

Charles

I saw your message, and wanted to watch a scan to see what actually happens.
So--I kept an eye on a couple of scans since then--both scheduled and
manually initiated.

The registry scan comes at the end--first come memory processes, then files,
then the registry.

So--if something in the file scan is either hanging or aborting the process,
I'd guess that the registry scan would be missed. I don't see any UI
settings which would turn this off, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough.

What evidence are you going by? I take it that the scan appears to complete
normally and you have history records? Have you looked at the errors.log
file in (c:\program files\microsoft antispyware) or the equiv on your
system--to see if anything of use is recorded at the time of the incomplete
scan?

In terms of fixes, I'd try an update first--control panel, add or remove
programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change, update.

If that doesn't change the behavior, and you don't need to preserve
quarantine or settings, you could also uninstall, delete all files in the
installation folder (typically c:\program files\Microsoft Antispyware) and
then reinstall.

The above fixes may be effective if the issue is some setting within the
program. If the issue, in fact, is some problem with the files being
scanned on your system, they won't have any effect, I suspect. If the issue
is with the file content, a full scan with some other product--antivirus or
a different antispyware app, might help.
