Inporting data from Excel

I’m trying to start a new DB from an excel spreadsheet. It currently
consists of 800 lines and 12 fields (columns). When I use the Get External
Data and press finish I get an the following “An error occurred trying to
import file C:\..…………..The file was not importedâ€. I reduced the file to 4
lines – no change. I created a Table and tried to cut and paste and got a
message that said “The text is too long to be edited†I changed the fields
to memo and everything pasted into the upper right cell. I really would like
to avoid entering all 800 lines of data. Can anyone help? I use MS Office
Professional 2003. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I solved the problem by importing as a link and then using an action
query. I appreciate your time.
