Hello,

I periodically import information from Excel to a contacts folder and then
copy the contacts to a Public contact folder than is used by many people.
This has worked without a hitch. However, after the last import when I
select "new message to contact" I get an error message that I must "first
enter a valid email address" even though the address in the contact is valid.
I click "OK" and then the email message opens properly addressed just as it
should.

Does anyone have any idea what may have been different for this last import
and how I might avoid the problem next time?

Thank you.

Imported addresses are not validated or resolved. You must do that before
you can access them.

Thanks Russ,

OK, how do I validate or resolve imported addresses. For a single Contacts
Folder can I do it for a few thousand?--

Ugly. The only way to resolve the addresses natively is to open and save
each Contact Record. Hopefully there is some third party software that might
be able to help with this. I'd start here:

First thing that I'm curious about is why your contacts are not
automatically resolving when just doing the standard import. Without seeing
the actual data, really hard to comment on.

Would really be interested in seeing any kind of sample data where the
Outlook import wizard is not resolving the email addresses but where our
import products are (or aren't whichever the case may be). If you are
inclined, feel free to send us a copy of a sample data file where email
addresses are not resolving on import (send to support @ contactgenie.com -
with a copy of the contents of this email msg for reference purposes -
please do not send a private email reply to me regarding this). Whatever
data file is sent - please be sure that it is one actually used where the
contacts are not resolving - not an unused "copy" of something that was
never tried on your system. For others reading this thread - any relevant
findings will be posted here for future reference since this issue has been
posted more then once.
