Does anyone have recs on inkjet brands, or pointers to good websites for the
same?

I've been using a Lexmark Z53 for a few years now. Very fast, but the
cost-per-page is really high given how expensive their cartridges are.

400 and less ofr one black, one CMY.

Why "of course"? I did end up ordering a Canon, based on the reviews (plus
the fact that the marginal cost of replacing ink etc was much much lower).
One disadvantage for me is that Canon doesn't "cooperate" with the Linux
community as much, but I print a lot in Windows XP, so...

How does Canon compare to Epson? (I mainly print text.)

I've tried MIS inks available at www.inksupply.com

A refill kit for the Canono i960 is about $45 with shipping/handling.
Filling the cartridges is a no-brainer.

I dnot' know, as far as quality goes, but Canons are easier to
maintain (printhead is readily removeable from printer, Epson is more
or less built in), and generally easier to refill.

I go to Mr. Ink Jet (look it up in google.) I have been buying inks from
them for about 3 years. They are very good and sell bulk inks. You can buy a
8 ounce bottle for 18.00 (this will last about 3 years with heavy printing.)
They also have 4 oz combo packs (all the colors.) They have the best prices
I've seen and have never had a problem with their inks.

Great tip. How consistent is color? How long-lived is the color? Have
you noticed any color shifts or changes over time?

right now I am using Ilford Galerie Smooth Glossy paper with MIS inks on
my Canon i960.

What Canon Multifunction units use separate cartridges? Also, are the
multifunction units that Canon makes reliable?
