Run a few cleaning and maintenance cycles after ensuring that the new
cartridge is installed correctly as per the printer manual.

What type of printer. Some manufacturers of ink cartriges
seal their cartriges for shipping using a piece of tape
across the print nozzle. If this is the case with yours
remove that tape. Then try to print a test page, following
the prompts for the calibration of the new cartrige.
