Initial web page won't open

I have recentlyinstalled all of the windows updates on this computer. Now,
when the link to open Internet Explorer is used, regardless of what the home
page is set to, I receive an error message that the page cannot be displayed.
From that point, anywhere that I want to go comes right up. I have tried to
uninstall the network card and re-install thinking that may be the problem,
as there was an update for that, but that didn't make any difference either.
Any ideas??

Can you access the site that is set as the home page when
you type it in the address bar? If so, once that site is
loaded, go back into internet options and choose to Use
Current to reset your home page. There just might be some
glitch in the address as it is set currently....

No, it doesn't matter what the home page is set to. I have tried numerous
ones. It just seems that there is a problem trying to open the first page.
