Hi,
I have a USB scanner, Acer 3300U (scan 2 web) that returns error code
ffff:0024 on warmup or scan. I have never seen it working though it is
correctly recognised under linux (e.g. probing the usb output give
consistant and correct results.)

have tried this under winXP and win2k with freshly acquired drivers, etc.

does anyone know what this error means? and more importantly is my
scanner dead?

That error probably means the scanner is dead or has some mechanical
failure. You are getting communications with the scanner, that error message
comes from the scanner and is reported in MiraScan.

I saw two error messages from my Acer Scanwit film scanner, a ffff:0022 and
ffff:0027 when it died. The Message on the error dialog said "Read Image
data failure Please check if the LED indicator stays ON(ready mode)" And the
LED blinked when the error showed up.

I don't know what error 24 is, but here is the FAQ. Benq is not forthcoming
on service information.
