Is there a registry key I can set to force a wireless interface to use
Infrastructure Only Mode or to disable Ad Hoc networking? I know I can
do this with Group Policy, but we are not using Active Directory so
this would be ineffective.

Thanks in advance.

If you have the Windows updates installed that provide it, you should be
able to do this in Wireless Zero Configuration Tool in Control Panel.
Properties in a wireless connection has the setting to no join ad hoc
networks as well.

If using another software interface, Intel has a wireless control applet
for example, check that program for similar settings.

We need an automated way to do this without Active Directory. We have a
security tool that our students run when they are connected to our
network and we'd like to add this to it. I've found a key called
ActiveSettings under
HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\[Interface
ID] that appears to have something to do with it but I can't decode it.

Thanks.

I have the same problem, want to be able to change Network Authenticantion,
and Key through registry? Did you ever find out how to do this??
