True, I agree. But - with great respect to Richard Harper, who is
well-known in this group as a helpful and knowledgeable dude - there are
no grounds for telling anyone to go away, just because they're not
speaking English. That seems very brusque and impolite.
If this group was called "microsoft.public.en.windows.vista.general", it
might be different
French is a very widely spoken global language. Many (most?) educated
people in Western societies can read at least some French. If someone
posted in Lithuanian, that might also be a different matter (no
disrespect to our Baltic buddies!).
Anyway, I don't want to make a big issue out of it. I just don't think
we should freak out every time someone happens to post in French, or
German, or Spanish, or any other widespread global language.
