I would like to reset IE6SP2 security so that I am not
always presented with the annoying "To help protect your
security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file...."
message in the Information Bar.

This triggers using a simple onLoad statement to change
Status Bar text, or loading a Flash .swf file.

What settings need to be changed for IE to stop IE from
trying to think for me:)

thanx
Joe

Hi Joe :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Tools > Internet Options ... > Advanced
Scroll down to Security
Switch on: Allow active content to run in files on My Computer

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

Thanx. That did the trick (and is much more helpful that

Thanx again

Good job!

I'm having the same problem and this did not resolve my problem. I've also
enabled Automatic prompting for file downloads and Automatic prompting for
ActiveX controls
yet I still get the info bar all the time and I know of no apparent reason
for it as it tends to be for pages that are local to my machine that I'm
working on and don't involve any ActiveX controls....pretty much just
straight HTML and CSS.

Thanks,

Hi David :-)

As the information did not resolve your problem, perhaps you may have a
similar, but, not the same problem. Please post a new thread with all the
details of your problem, version of Windows, IE, and exact wording of any
error messages you may be getting. This way we can deal with the specifics
of your particular problem and, hopefully, find a solution that will work
for you. :-)

Thank you.
