I have an IBM Infoprint Color 8 which has given excellent
service, but has balked recently, showing the error message,
ERROR D8. The printer manual indicates that this error message
means that the Cyan image drum is not installed properly. I have
followed the directions, removing and re-installing the Cyan
image drum, several times, but the error persists. Sometimes it
will abate for a short time, but has never gone away for more
than a dozen or so prints.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I would buy a new Cyan image
drum at about $165 if I knew this would cure the problem. But, if
the problem lies within the frame circuitry of the printer, a new
image drum would not resolve the problem.
Would it be prudent to swap, say the Yellow and the Cyan image
drum assemblies to see if the error followed the image drum or
stayed with the color identity? Would this mess up the printer
severely?
