Thanks to all for advice on converting to NTFS. Worked perfectly.
However ----

Volume ID will not run to allow me to restore the original ID.
Downloaded OK, seems to unzip OK, but a double click results in a very brief
flash of a black window. Any ideas?

Everything that I have checked so far seems to be fine, except this. I know
that its not vital but I would like to do the whole bit, if possible.

TIA

Pat

Thanks for the info.

I want to change it back to original, to square the activation numbers. The
volume ID is changed by the conversion from FAT 32 to NTFS.

Cheers

Did that, exactly the same result! Brief flash of a black screen, suggesting
that it has opened, then it closes. All within 1/2 second.
I want to change the volume ID so as to put it back to what it was before
converting to NTFS.

I'm not desperate, just puzzled, as the only upgrade that I am likely to do
in the next few months is to add a Firewire/USB2 card and a large external
HD to backup pictures. IF I can scrape some money together! This is not
supposed to affect the Activation status, so I should be able to soldier on
happily until I forget all about it. Then I'll run into a problem of some
sort and drive myself nuts!

Any other ideas?

Thanks, Pat Clough

I don't think the serial number is located in the same place on
an NTFS formatted drive as on a fat 16/32 drive. This could cause
a problem unless volume id now has provisions for this.

Just a thought: If the future upgrades you have planned trigger the need
to reactivate, it only takes seconds to accomplish on the internet.
Minutes if you have to call in. Either way it would take less time than
re-establishing that volume label.
