Hello
I have a few users who have started to use a POP account
in order to work offline. It seems as if their address
book is getting corrupted because if they choose an
address from the book it will not send and just sit in
the outbox, but if they type out the full address it'll
send fine. Now if corruption is the case I'm sure there's
not a whole lot they can do except download a new address
book. If this is the case what I'm looking for is some
sort of document, whether it's a web site or KB article
that I've overlooked that says it's the only option so I
have something to reference them back to when they ask.
If it's not the only option what haven't I tried?

Thanks
Darren

Start at the beginning with information like your Outlook version, the
transports in your profile, and what you mean by "started to use a POP
account so they can work offline." Include such things as how the sender
selecting the email address and distinguishing SMTP addresses from Exchange
addresses.

Thanks. I got so caught up proofreading and trying to
make sure I didn't have any typos I forgot the important
stuff. :)
Anyways, here goes....

We've got Outlook XP running on Windows XP. Their mail
comes into the Inbox in their Personal Folder which is a
PST file. When they're offline (not here) they connect
via the POP3 address of the Exchange server. They have
both a Work profile and an Offline profile. The address
book they use was downloaded from the exchange server and
contains internal staff addresses. The way the address
book was downloaded was from the Download Offline Address
Book in the Offline Send/Receive settings.

When they choose an address from the address book it does
not show the SMTP address but the resolved name. When
this was first set up, email would send out but now it
sits in the Outbox of the Personal Folder. If they type
out the full address in the TO: field instead of using
the address book the message gets sent.

The first user who experienced this went to Tools >
Send/Receive > Download Address Book and redownloaded the
address book. So far that appears to have worked. But
I've since had two more users with the same symptoms as
the first (mail not sending when name chosen from address
book). They have yet to try redownloading the address
book.

What I'm wondering is, is this the only solution?

Hopefully I didn't leave anything out this time but if I
did I'll be glad to fill in some more. :)

Thanks again
Darren

Yuck. You need to head to an Exchange group or your Exchange administrator
pronto. I know only two things about Exchange. Mixing POP3 and Exchange
accounts in the same profile can be problematic. PST's with Exchange is
trouble.
