Hello,
I work for a company that installs smart home systems
(networking, telephone, security, etc.) and there's a product that
will allow someone to access their security system from anywhere on
the web. They can login to set the temp in rooms, turn on lights,
look at the security cameras, etc. It's a neat system. Also, we have
our own hosting business, so we have web servers as well as our own
local dns servers.
Anyway, since most of the houses we're installing this system
in have broadband connections with dynamic assigned IP's, is there a
program that can update a zone file or an a record of a zone file on
our DNS servers to reflect the wan ip of their broadband connection
automatically?
E.G.
myhome.mydomain.com - 66.52.34.104
Person logs in, types in myhome.mydomain.com and they can see their
security system, etc. Cable provider then changes the wan ip (which
means myhome.mydomain, com doesn't work any longer).
But a client program or service is running that will see the change
and will contact our DNS server and change the appropriate A record.
myhome.mydomain.com - 66.52.34.210
Yes, I know that there are dynamic dns services on the web. I
was wondering if it would be possible with our dns servers. Thanks..
