im a new internet user and was not aware of all the unwanted trash that can get onto my computer by commercial and other so called companies.I have got rid of unwanted programmes thanks to the advice of a web site recommended by my server provider but still have unwanted icons in the favourites bar and my home page setting in internet connection settings keeps altering to one i dont want which seems to be associated with the parasite (money tree)which has affected my computer. My service provider said once the unwanted programmes were deleted it would be ok. N.B the normal deletions procedures will not work. Any advice received will be most welcome. true red....

Hi

For your home page problem, try any/all of the following programs to search for and delete any spyware that may be on your system. You may find it will help the unwanted icons in your Favourites as well:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

It's quite amazing how much "unwanted trash" there is on the Internet.
Amazing, and disturbing. As a new Internet user, you want to learn how to
best protect yourself against it all, and here's a pretty good place to
start:

"Protect Your PC"
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/default.asp

Most of all, approach the Internet with the same caution and common sense
that you apply in everyday life.
