Is the Indexing Service important to the computer boot process?

No, I have it turned off (and most of that extra fluff stuff). What makes
you think it is?

Indexing Service indexes contents and properties of files on local
and remote computers; provides rapid access to files through flexible
querying language.
This is a resource hog. Lots of people disable it.
