indexing problem/question

We opened our site www.3dauto.com a few months ago and have been
visited regularly by inktomislurp, but at any given time we only have
about 20 pages indexed out of 4,000 + pages.

Why do we have so few pages indexed while a number of very small sites
with few inbound links appear higher in the results.?

That is a issue with Inktomi / Slurp and only they can answer.
