I have a huge document (300 pages, shall be printed as a book) and at the end
an index. I am using the by default proposed format with two columns, right
alignment of numbers, ...as tab leader, Type indented, language English.

For some terms I have so many finds that the line is more then full and it
starts a new line, but in some cases between the term and the first
pagenumber is no space.
I need some help how to format the index better.

In one of the index entries, move the right-tab stop to the right of
(outside of) the right margin. (Or rather, move the right margin stop
to the left of {inside) the right-tab stop, depending on how much
space there is between the right margin and the column edge.)

The index entry style usually has the "Update to match selection"
feature turned on, so this should affect all the index entries.
