Can anybody tell me what index.dat files are for? What
would happen if I deleted them from roaming profiles?

Each of my roaming profiles, besides having their
ntuser.dat file have a bunch of ntuser.dat.tmp.tmp...
extensions added to them. What is this all about? Can I
delete them? Is there a way to prevent them from
accumulating??

Thanks a million!

You can delete them. They will be recreated. If you want
to play it safe, make of copy of them. We used to get
alot of them when accessing a 2000 server from a Terminal
server session from a NT4 workstation. They can go away
also. It creates them because it couldn't load your
profile.
