"Index already exists" error when attempting to link to AS400 tabl

I have been linking to AS400 tables for some time through Access 97 and Access 2000 -- Suddenly when doing a new database and attempting to link to a table I have used extensively before, I get an Access error that says "Index already exists" and the link fails. I have not made any changes and previous links in other databases using this table appear to be stable. Any suggestions??
 
Check to make sure that the table definition doesn't have
the Indexed property set as "Yes (No Duplicates)".

It should be either "NO" or "Yes (Duplicates Allowed".
